There are many reasons for this but let me try to summarize and make it as short as possible: during the lockdowns people were shopping online en masse and demand for furniture exploded in a much bigger than normal way. In addition, factories were forced to close, and container ships were being grounded in ports. All of these factors added together caused an enormous backlog of orders that still havent been resolved. These unique problems continue to plague our industry today as factories overseas cant find containers to book, container ships are backed up by the hundreds awaiting authorization to move into port and unload, and now the Delta variant is causing plant closures again. There are also problems in the U.S. Foam industry for cushions as chemicals needed for production havent been available.
